Get the Look: Camilla Belle's Makeup at the Young Hollywood Awards

The 13th Annual Young Hollywood Awards brought out the young-and-hot and we have the makeup secrets for the always stunning Camilla Belle, winner of the Young Hollywood Style Icon Award.  To contrast Camilla's Tom Ford menswear-inspired suit celeb makeup artist Brett Freedman channeled the ultra-feminine 60's Barbarella look.  Here's the scoop, straight from the master himself:

FACE - Base: I prepped Camilla's skin with Fresh Rose Marigold Floral Water.  Moisturizer: Dermalogica Active Moist, an oil-free moisturizer.  Foundation: Lorac Natural Performance Foundation.  Powder: Shu Uemura Face Powder Matte in Colorless.  I used this translucent powder to set the makeup.  I planned to use bronzing powder to warm up the skin so this was used to make sure the bronzer didn't "grab" on the skin.  Bronzer: Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Bronzing Powder.  The mineral formula is great and low in shimmer so it doesn't make the face too shiny.

EYES - Brows: Vanitymark Ultra-Brow Powder in Dark Choco.  Eye Shadows: I used three different MAC colors on Camilla's lids.  I wanted to focus on the strong liner so we kept the colors in a neutral family (MAC Wedge: I used this shade all over Camilla's eyes and underneath her lash line.  MAC Quarry: I smudged this on her top lash line.  MAC Shroom: I just used this shade on her brow bone for a slight shimmer when the lights (and cameras!) hit).  Liquid Liner: Benefit Magic Ink.  I really wanted to play up Camilla's eyes and make them the focal point of this makeup look.  Eye Liner Pencil: L'Oreal Extra Intense in Black.  I used this in the inside shell of the eyes.  I met the liners at the corner and swept the line up and out.  I smudged the line just a bit so it wasn't a very hard, severe line.  Mascara: Fresh Supernova.  This is one of my favorite mascaras!  Along with a few swipes, I also used Ardell's short individual lashes from the center to the outer corners of Camilla's eyes and then the three medium individual lashes on just the outer corners for an upwards sweeping effect.

CHEEKS - Blush: NARS Amour powder.  I wanted a fleshy-pink tone, going for a mid-90's inspiration.  I swept the color from Camilla's apples towards her temples.

LIPS - Lipstick: Benefit Skinny Dip Silky Finish Lipstick.  I wanted to mimic the color on Camilla's cheeks and went for a shade that wasn't too mauve or taupe, just a hint of neutral, pink.

I love hearing about someone doing good.  It's not only inspiring but, simply put, it makes my heart smile.  Needless to say, my heart is beaming after hearing about Phoebe Steinfeld, the 16 year old with the brains behind Color Me Cured.

The Cure for Foul Feet

'Tis the season - cookouts, beaches, and stinky feet.  Unfortunately, we know it's true...the shoes we don't wear socks with will inevitably develop an odor of sorts that will cause us to only take our shoes off when we're alone and out of range of other people's nostrils.  Enter Silver Linings by Chu Shu New York.  The ultra-thin liners won't alter the fit of the shoe, and are infused with Agion®, an anti-microbial silver-based technology preventing bacterial odor in the shoes that we wear sans socks.  Silver is naturally occurring, environmentally friendly, and Agion® is an EPA-registered material.

Nobody wants to be the stinky girl in the room and if that's something you worry about, order a set today!  $15.99 for a set of 3 available at Amazon.com and SilverLiningsNewYork.com.

Bye-Bye Fine Lines...I've Got Furlesse!

Are you to that point in your life?  The point when fine wrinkles start to say "hello love, here we are!"  It's annoying isn't it?  And if needles and knives aren't your thing, what's a girl to do?  The answer - Furlesse!  Furlesse is the no-pain, no-needle solution for relaxing the fine lines between your eyes.

What Are They?

Fan shaped patches, both latex and hypoallergenic free, that fit any forehead.  Simply peel away from the backing and place between the eyes when you're ready for bed.  And of course, easily peel off in the morning.

The Results?

The results are nothing short of fabulous!  The smoothness you see can last into the afternoon for some people and while they recommend wearing during sleep, for a big event, you can wear for a few hours beforehand.

The best part is that nothing about your routine needs to change.  Keep your normal cleansing and moisturizing habits in tact, just patch-up before you let the sandman enter.  Perfection!

Visit Furlesse.com for more info and to order!

Stay lovely!

Review: Sally Hansen Salon Effects™ Nail Polish Strips

A Saturday night with one of your besties who you haven't seen in ages can turn lethal (on the bank account) with just one small trip to the Wal-Green's makeup aisle.  Among other things that at the moment felt like couldn't live without, I left the store with the new Sally Hansen Salon Effects™ Nail Polish Strips.  I admit, I'd been wanting to try the Tiger patterned one since I first saw the ad, but alas, it was sold out so I settled for another interesting pattern, Laced Up.

My experience wasn't necessarily bad, but also not as simple as I expected.  Read on for the details.

What You Get

A small rectangular box containing 16 strips, a cuticle stick, and a mini file/buffer.  While it does say clear-as-day on the box "16 strips," I assumed that for $9.99 I would be getting strips for more than 1 application.  Maybe my cheapness is coming out, but $9.99 seems steep for one at-home nail application.  For that reason alone, I would recommend at least choosing patterned strips.  You can do plain nails with any of your regular polishes.

The Process

It seems easy enough, peel off the stickers and place them on your nail, file off the extra, smooth it out to finish.  It's practically a 3rd grade art project, right?  WRONG!  Here were my issues:

- There wasn't always a strip that was wide enough to fit my nail, and I don't think I have crazy wide nails.  The directions do say to "stretch" the strip to correctly fit your nail, but everytime I tried stretching it, it tore....which leads me to my next negative...

-The strips easily rip or in the event the "best" size is just a little big there's not easy way to trim the excess around your cuticle without the end result looking a bit shoddy.

With all of the above said, however, I did really like the look of the end result, or at least the Lace Up pattern on my nails.  If you're really looking, you do easily see the mistakes, but is anyone besides me going to look that closely at my nails?  So, despite the price and the imperfections I will most likely try it again, I'll just make sure I have a fun event planned to show them off at.  And I'm hoping it's like riding a bike, that every time I try it the result will be better or I'll learn to properly "stretch" the strips.

According to Sally Hansen the strips last up to 10 days and are easily removed with your normal nail polish remover.

If you've tried the strips, please share your thoughts and/or tips!

Stay beautiful!

What's Hot on Summer Nails? Brights are Back!

Say so long to you basic blacks and greys from winter.  This summer, opt for fun-in-the-sun shades!  Below, JESSICA Nail Colours helps us decipher the top trends that will make your tips shine.

Bold brights such as the bright orange coral Enchantress or the ruby pink shade Seductress are sure to make a splash!  Insider Trick: use three -coats for bold nail polish colors like Enchantress or Seductress.  Swiping on that extra coat can make the color really saturated, just like it looks in the bottle.

If brights aren't your thing, barely there, natural, glossy tips are another option.  A glistening beige that compliments your sun-kissed skin, like Temptress of the Sea, makes a delicate statement that goes with everything.

Each JESSICA Nail Colour retails for just $7.50 and JessicaCosmetics.com!

Cinco de Mayo Drink Ideas and Royal Wedding News from Cointreau!

Cointreau Brand Ambassador and international burlesque star Dita Von Teese has officially launched her latest namesake cocktail the Cointreau MargaDita - and of course, it's right in time for any and all of of your Cinco de Mayo celebrations and summer soirees.  Von Teese calls it a "tantalizing haute-cocktail with a spicy twist."

Cointreau MargaDita
1.5 oz Cointreau
1.5 oz Silver Tequila
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz Monin Rose Syrup
1 pinch Chipotle Sauce
Mix all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.  Shake vigorously and pour into a chilled coup glass.  Garnish with floating organic yellow rose petals.  For an added kick, add a chipotle and salt rim.

In other news, the Royal Wedding is in the books and one little detail you may not have heard during the extensive coverage, is that Cointreau had a small part in the Royal Day.  The scrumptious Royal Wedding Torte that guests were dining on was made from freshly squeezed orange juice, Cointreau liquor, marzipan, candied orange peel and filled with orange-Cointreau cream.  The final touch includes white icing and marzipan crowns.  Delicious!!!
